Our Paediatric first aid course is designed to meet the stringent requirements of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Upon successful completion, you'll receive a certificate valid for three years, ensuring you stay up-to-date with best practices and regulations in the field of child care. All newly qualified entrants to the early years workforce who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30 June 2016, must also have either a full PFA or an emergency PFA certificate within three months of starting work in order to be included in the required staff:child ratios at level 2 or level 3 in an early years setting.

Course Content

Welcome to the Paediatric First Aid course, a comprehensive two-day program designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills required to provide effective first aid to infants and children. This course is designed specifically to meet the requirements of the EYFS framework and is CPD accredited. This 12-hour course combines 6 hours of online learning with 6 hours of instructor-led training and covers the following crucial topics:

  • Unresponsive and Breathing

  • Unresponsive and Not Breathing (AED)

  • Choking

  • Bleeding

  • Shock

  • Burns and Scalds

  • Seizures

  • Object in Eye, Ear, or Nose

  • Hypothermia and Heat Exhaustion

  • Medical Emergencies

  • Injuries to Bones, Muscles, and Joints (Including Spinal Injuries)

  • Head Injuries

  • Swallowed Harmful Substances

The “In Safe Hands Award” will apply to Nurseries, Pre-Schools and Childminders.

To gain the “In Safe Hands Award”, Nurseries and Pre-Schools have to achieve a MINIMUM of: 35% of staff Trained in Paediatric First Aid (12 hours) & 35% of staff Trained in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 hours).
